Women's Poker Association was in the beginnings of development.  After a lot of discussion, research and decisions, more information was needed to properly launch. The WPA project was placed on hold until 2016 when after a lot of discussion, dedication and passion, the decision was made to launch the WPA as a non-profit organization.

WPA was re-organized with originators Jana Von Dach, Ruth Hall, Susan Rhodes, Terry Constantino, Bonnie Carl, Lynne Pohl and founder, Lupe Soto.

WPA launched in April 2018 at the NV State Ladies Poker Championship in Reno NV. The launch party event was well received and players accepted and joined the WPA mission! Since it's launch, the Board of Directors has seen changes.  Leslie Grodin, Lori Smith, Ruth Hall, Peggy Carlson and Rebecca Scales have been added to the administration.

Major changes to the organization in 2019! WPA picks up steam by adding many new programs.  New for 2019 is the WPA Player of the Year program which recognizes women's success in ladies events around the world.  Additionally, the #RaiseItUp movement is introduced to the poker world. Our response to creating environments where poker is played that are inviting to new players worldwide. WPA Advocates are added to spread the mission globally.  Any member can become a WPA Advocate in your area!
